We moved out in 1971 to Maplewood, but we always were in Newark on Weekends and sometimes during the week we would go pick my dad up from work. He worked for Morbach Kaslander on 5th street..
My Uncle Dominic Longo owned the local Exxon Gas Station on Park Ave while my other Uncle Rick worked at the Hess Station across the street. Many nights were spent at Dickie Dees or Ting a Lings lemon Ice..
You can take the boy outta Newark but you can’t The Newark Outta the Boy..
Ever since I can remember being at my Uncle Joes house at 280 N 11th Street we always had to run the water for a few minutes. Sometimes it would be a light brown then go clear. Many times it would have a weird taste but this was the early 80s we just chalked it up to its a different water system.. Or to they just fixed a water pipe in the street.
And I gotta say back in the day they were always working in the street, we never payed it no mind because we had things to do. But now looking back Just What were they Fixing ? Were they fixing it right ?
Then about 3 years ago when I started The JRX Foundation and started feeding the Homeless around the country. Whenever I went Home to Newark I had people asking what I was doing but then asking if they could have some water because of the water in their House or Apartment had a funny taste..
And sure I gave them a case or two but again I did not think nothing of it until now..
Now I do not trust this government at all.. I love my country but not my government.
This is a prime example they had to of known that something has been going on for years. Til finally the day came where they could not hide it anymore..
I love my State and many of the people in it. I started the JRX Foundation to help and well we will try until we cannot anymore !
